There is a creative heartbeat behind all my work, whether it is looking through a camera viewfinder or writing marketing content. Prior to picking up a camera, I worked in public relations and marketing for 10 years until I was laid-off in 2010. I really fell in love with photography after I had a photojournalism class in college. I would find an excuse to incorporate photography in my PR work whenever I could. Then in early 2012 an Arkansas newspaper placed an ad for freelance photographers, which changed my career trajectory starting April 2012. The freelance photographers were assigned to photograph various Arkansas festivals and other types of special events on weekends around the state. The newspaper used the images to showcase the event and Arkansas’ people. I was not only tasked with taking and editing the photos, but also writing the captions. I had lots of fun working at that job and met lots of interesting people. In January 2016, my editor died unexpectedly, so I had to pivot, and that’s when I started Festivals of Arkansas Event Photography or FARE Pix in May 2016. FARE Pix not only provides event photography, but also photo printing services.

I was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa but Arkansas has been my home for 44 years. I have been married to my husband, Joel, for 29 years. We share a love of photography. Joel will work alongside me occasionally.
